Conduct for Congress Participants for a respectful, inclusive, and professional confgress atmosphere.
1. Purpose
The EABCT 2026 congress is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere for all participants—including attendees, speakers, volunteers, staff, exhibitors, and sponsors. This Code of Conduct outlines expected behaviors and sets out unacceptable conduct to ensure a respectful and harassment‑free experience for everyone.
2. Expected Behavior
All participants should:
- Treat others with respect, kindness, and consideration, valuing diverse viewpoints and experiences
- Communicate openly and constructively, accommodating different perspectives
- Respect privacy — seek consent before photographing, recording, or sharing others’ images or information
- Follow all event-related policies and local venue regulations
3. Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:
- Harassment, bullying or discrimination based on gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age, body size or other protected characteristics
- Unwanted attention or advances—physical, verbal, or sexual—that create discomfort, including inappropriate contact or touching
- Disruptive behavior that interferes with sessions, workshops, or networking; this includes inappropriate interruptions or sustained distraction
- Offensive conduct or language, including the display or communication of discriminatory or explicit content
- Retaliation against individuals who report violations or support those who do
4. Reporting Violations
If you experience or witness a violation:
- Contact designated conference staff immediately—at the event, look for team members or volunteers with identifying badges or lanyards
- Reports may also be made via email or phone (details to be provided on the conference website, app, or informational materials)
- All reports will be treated confidentially and addressed promptly, with protection against retaliation emphasized
5. Consequences of Violation
Steps organizers may take:
- Issue verbal or written warnings.
- Require the participant to cease offending behaviour immediately.
- Expel the individual from the event (possibly without refund).
- Deny future participation in organizing partner conferences or sessions.
Serious or repeated misconduct may also be escalated to the individual’s employer, institution, or relevant authorities if necessary
6. Attribution & Acknowledgement
By attending the event, all participants agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Support from registered participants—volunteers, speakers, and sponsors—is essential to maintaining a positive, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone
7. Adaptation Tips
- Include clear contact information for the reporting team, ideally with at least two designated individuals from different institutions or roles
- Ensure the Code is prominently displayed—on your website, conference app, printed materials, and during opening remarks
- Appoint a response panel or conduct committee for reviewing reports and determining appropriate actions
- Clarify how confidentiality will be maintained throughout the process
Communicate any right of appeal or review process, depending on the complexity and scale of your event
