CleVR B.V. is a Dutch company, founded in 2010 and based in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. The company specializes in scientifically developed Virtual Reality Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or VR-CBT.
CleVR originated from research at TU Delft and the University of Amsterdam and develops clinically validated, dynamically interactive VR software for mental healthcare, forensic psychiatry, youth psychiatry, education, justice and professional training.
CleVR’s VR-CBT solutions enable therapists and trainers to create realistic, safe and fully controllable social situations in which participants can practise behaviour, exposure and coping strategies. Unlike static VR videos or scripted simulations, CleVR’s environments are interactive and adaptable in real time. The therapist or trainer can adjust the difficulty, social context, characters and triggers during the session, allowing each intervention to be tailored to the individual participant.
CleVR’s technology is used for a wide range of clinical and training purposes, including psychosis care, paranoia, social anxiety, aggression regulation, forensic rehabilitation, youth mental health, social cognition training and professional skills development. The software has been developed in close collaboration with universities, mental health institutions and clinical experts, and is supported by a growing body of scientific research.
In addition to VR software, CleVR provides implementation support, technical training, clinical onboarding and live demonstrations. This helps organizations integrate VR-CBT responsibly and effectively into existing treatment and training structures.
By combining evidence-based CBT principles with adaptive, immersive and interactive VR technology, CleVR helps professionals deliver more personalized, experiential and effective interventions.
